Have you added cabbage to your diet?
Cabbage is a part of the cruciferous vegetable family. Cruciferous vegetables are known for being loaded with beneficial nutrients. Eating cabbage may help prevent cancer as well as heart disease. It contains anti-inflammatory compounds, flavonoids and supports digestion.
We love cabbage at our house. It is versatile and easily absorbs the flavors surrounding it. Cabbage can be roasted, grilled, baked and used to house an array of vegetables and meats. In the winter, one of our favorite ways to eat cabbage is roasted with sausage and potatoes.
- 1 head cabbage chunked
- 2 pounds red potatoes, leave whole or cut in half
- 3 – 4 T fat of choice, melted (I prefer Duck Fat)
- ½ tsp sea salt
- ½ tsp garlic
- 2 T Balanced Bites Italian Seasoning, or Simply Organic Italian Seasoning mix
- 1 T black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 3 pounds sausage or bratwurst, cut into chunks – I like Aidell’s, found at Costco or Pedersons Natural Uncured No Sugar Smoked Kielbasa
Oil sheet pan. Toss all ingredients except sausage. Bake at 375* for 45 minutes. Add sausage chunks, bake for 10 – 15 minutes longer. Enjoy!
